SQL

Can somebody tell me how to write a SQL statement on a 12-table database that could take minutes to compute on a server run locally on a P4 2.66GHz machine with a single database connection? Cuz I sure as hell can't figure it out.

Well I've really left most of the work for my partner cuz I have a project due on Friday, nevermind a FINAL on the same day. But as far as I can tell he's adding thousands (and I mean thousands) of new tuples and creating complex (albeit nonsensical) queries, and they appear to take like 30 freaking seconds. That's all I can say mate.
